What are the differences between your online options? (Page 2 of 2) Chat room and telephone options Our chat room and telephone options most closely resemble face-to-face counseling. Men who choose these services, especially when they schedule multiple sessions, are often looking to explore complex and ongoing issues. Clients who enjoy writing and are comfortable with computer keyboarding often choose the chat room option. Men who select telephone sessions prefer discussing their concerns conversationally. Since clients are responsible for long-distance charges, the telephone option is slightly more expensive (though, with a human voice on the other side, somewhat more personal). Email options Our email options are intended for men who want a therapeutic response to a specific question. Email counseling is more anonymous than other options, therefore suitable for clients not yet comfortable with the real-time intimacy of chat room and telephone counseling. Some men choose email to test the benefits of online counseling before opting for a chat room or telephone experience. What about professional ethics & confidentiality? Our counselor is a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counselors and subscribes to its Code of Ethical Conduct and Standards of Clinical Practice. Everything you share in an online counseling session is confidential except for your counselor's legal obligation to report child abuse and to protect you or others from harm. When you schedule an online session, the legal limits to confidentiality—which apply to every professional counseling relationship—will be explained in detail to you. If you have other questions, please contact us by email or call 1-604-314-3811. Our Registered Clinical Counselor will respond promptly.
