Time of payment

Payment for face-to-face counseling in our Vancouver office is expected at the time of service unless otherwise arranged. Payment for online counseling is expected in advance.

No one is refused face-to-face counseling because of an inability to pay. Arrangement for payment of fees may therefore be determined on an individual basis. See our Low-income Clients page for details on Time Plan. Please note that Time Plan is not available for online clients, from whom payment in full is collected before appointments are scheduled.

Missed appointments

Face-to-face appointments missed or cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time, other than for unusual reasons, will be charged the full appointment fee. This does not apply to online appointments, where payment is collected in advance.

Income tax deductibility (Canada only)

Fees paid to a Registered Clinical Counselor may be tax deductible in Canada in whole or in part. Please consult with the Canada Revenue Agency or your tax preparation professional for details. Residents of other countries are advised to consult with their national tax authority or tax preparation professional for the rules in their jurisdiction.

Insurance companies and extended health benefits

Clients pay us directly and, if applicable, may claim repayment from their plan. It is the responsibility of clients to check with their plan administrator to determine if, and the amount for which, the services of a Registered Clinical Counselor will be reimbursed.

General

We encourage you to discuss financial matters with us at any time. Payment of a fee for therapy forms part of the client-counselor relationship and is as open for discussion as anything else.
